What is CBD?

Hello Everyone! Today I would like to share some knowledge with you all about an up and coming plant based compound, CBD, or Cannabidiol. It seems as though the popularity and general interest in "CBD" is on the rise throughout the United States as well as certain parts of the rest of the world. Though, as with every health fad, it is surrounded with inaccuracies and general fallacies. I see a lot of other companies coming out and jumping on the "CBD heals all", "CBD cures x,y and z" bandwagon and using the misinformation to increase sales. Here at B&B Botanicals, we aim to increase sales by using correct information, and educating our customers on what to really expect using our plant based products. We want to make sure that our customers know what they are getting, and to not expect our products to cure all of their ailments. It just doesn't work that way, unfortunately, as much as we all wish it so.

Now, that being said, I am not here to bash anyone's product, including our own! I am here just to clear some of the stale air surrounding Cannabis, Hemp, and CBD. CBD or Cannabidiol is a compound that is found in the Cannabis and Hemp plant. There is a distinction between the CBD that comes from the psychoactive cannabis plant, and the CBD that comes from the non-psychoactive industrial hemp plant, and is legal in all 50 states. The distinction is in the THC content of each plant. Cannabis plants can have up to 30%+ THC (the psychoactive compound that made cannabis the target of prohibition, false stigmas, and infamy), while industrial hemp plants have no more than 0.3% THC. The actual CBD molecule is the same between the two plants. Same molecule, same effects(Though there is something to be said about the synergy of cannabinoids, more on this later). The only difference is that Hemp based CBD is legal in all 50 states due to its almost absent THC content. This is the CBD products that you see in all different states in head shops, health food stores, and so on. That is why we only use Farm Bill Compliant Industrial Hemp Based CBD in all of our products. Because we want to reach as many people as we can across the board. You do not need a medical card, or to live in a state where cannabis is legal, to get your hands on one of nature's greatest secrets. That is why CBD is one of our favorite ingredients to put in almost anything! And when combined with other great plant extracts, nature's secret beauty comes out in all of its glory. That is why we make the products we do. Because we have seen with our own eyes, heard with our own ears, and felt with our own senses the differences that Organic Plant Based Products Infused with Hemp Based CBD have on the body.

I believe through my own experience that plant based products that are free of harmful/unnecessary chemicals are a phenomenal way to address some of the issues that one finds throughout the daily grind of life. We, as a species have been using natural remedies for thousands of years to help with anything ranging from indigestion, pain reduction, immune system boost, dietary boost, mental clarity, and so on. So, why would nature and it's essences be wrong to use after millions of years of evolution alongside sentient life? To me that just doesn't add up. Nature through evolution has been fine tuning itself for millions of years to produce thousands and thousands of different plant species that each have an unique benefit to the environment and those who live in it. It would not make sense to me that each human (or all mammals, for arguments sake) would contain inside their body, natural systems that are designed to interact with plant based compounds to produce many different desired results. One example is the endogenous cannabinoid system, or endocannabinoid system, normally abbreviated ECS. The ECS is a system of receptors found throughout our body, that interacts with phyto-chemicals (aka plant compounds) in order to promote homeostasis throughout the cells in the body. This is the foundation on which plant based compounds such as CBD has their effects. CBD reacts with receptors and enzymes around the body to promote many different beneficial responses aided by the bodies natural systems. As stated on projectcbd.com "Extensive preclinical research—much of it sponsored by the U.S. government—indicates that CBD has potent anti-tumoral, antioxidant, anti-spasmodic, anti-psychotic, anti-convulsive, and neuroprotective properties. CBD directly activates serotonin receptors, causing an anti-anxiety effect, as well"(projectcbd). This is powerful information to read! More research and studies need to be conducted, but initial reports are pointing to CBD being a major benefit to have in your body to help boost natural processes.

Now how could it be that a system that is present in all mammals, that took millions and millions of years to evolve into what it is today, that's goal is to produce a stable internal environment, that is affected by plant based compounds, be wrong?

That is the foundation that B&B Botanicals was built on. We built ourselves around our love for nature, and our overwhelming appreciation of nature for all that it supplies to us. That is the difference here at B&B. We are humbled by nature, and we have set out to create products that use what the universe has gifted us to help us better our own lives. We believe that through nature and her extracts, much of our daily aches, pain, inflammation, dryness, soreness, stress, and so on can be alleviated through its synergy with the human body. That is why we do not put any unwanted chemicals in our products, we want our customers to have an intimate experience with nature and to see for yourself the power that nature has. We want to show the customer that it is not only CBD that helps certain ailments, but the combination of different plants and their own unique essence that work together to improve your bodies own natural functions!

This is just but a small introduction into some of the topics that will be covered in this blog. We want to take the time to write informative posts that our customers can read to better educate themselves about not only our products, but to further their knowledge of this beautiful world we all share. That being said, we do not claim to be an authority on medical knowledge. We offer only general information on our pages, we as an online retailer do not claim to be the most accurate source of information. Further research and peer reviewed studies are needed to confirm the information we suggest. Every has to cover their...backs.. yea, backs..these days LOL!

Check back soon for new information and topics!
